Things I shouldn’t love, but do

I get way too excited about things I buy for my kitchen/cooking. First, I’m newly in love with retro-style aprons. I’ve picked some up at antique stores and garage sales (I got a lovely lacy tea apron in a boutique in Ballard, Seattle  one time), and some people around town make them. But the Internet has all sorts of inexpensive options, so I’ve started giving these for gifts as well.

I’ve ordered from this artisan, Bojiboo, on (just search “retro aprons”):

The next thing I’m irrationally attached to is my special nutmeg zester. I know, I could use my regular-sized microplane for this, but this tiny one from Williams-Sonoma is extra special (thanks, mom!)

  1. what’s the difference between a backless retro dress and an apron? Are there backless retro dresses? Looks just like a Summer dress to me. Too nice for sloppy joe night.

  2. I LOVE that apron. Maybe I would cook more if I had better outfits.
